Attendance

Posted On Monday November 30, 2020

To the parents/guardians of Port Perry High School students.

Attendance:

Please report all student absences via School Messenger <hyperlink attendance.ddsb.ca>, including late arrivals or early departures.  If your student is absent for the morning on their cohort day, please indicate in school messenger that they are absent for the morning only.  If a student is signing out in the morning but expected to be present for their online class in the afternoon, please indicate in school messenger a return time to school.  If your student will miss both their morning class and online afternoon class, mark the student absent all day.

Afternoon attendance will be taken during both period 3 and period 4.  If the student is non-responsive when the teacher addresses them at any time during these periods, their attendance will also be changed to absent.  Even though the student may be logged in, it does not guarantee their present status, they must be actively participating during both periods

We understand that the board-wide automated absence message you receive advises that you contact the attendance office, however during our Quadmester schedule, please follow up on any attendance concerns directly with the teacher.

Bus Cancellation and Attendance:

In the event that transportation services are cancelled due to inclement weather, all students within the zone will switch to virtual learning for the day.  All students will be required to stay home.  Please do not mark your student absent unless they will be absent from their virtual classes that day.  Families can check the DDSB website, social media, and where possible local radio stations no later than 7am to learn of any cancellation.  Students at Port Perry High School are in Zone 3 (Scugog area).

Thanks for your patience and cooperation in these matters.
