Mental Health Services

Dear Parents/Guardians: 

The past few weeks have been particularly difficult for a number of us as we have struggled to deal with upsetting and tragic events in our respective communities.  These events have been coupled with the ongoing difficulties of continuing to ensure the health and safety of our loved ones.  Please know that this school is a member of your community, and we join you in navigating the challenges that have been experienced. 

Toward this end, we want to ensure that information is available to you about supports that can be accessed to assist:

1. Family Services Durham

Family Services Durham offers crisis response services which can provide short term support to families without being placed on a wait list. Services are not time limited, are entirely free of charge, and are offered from 9am- 9pm Monday – Thursday and 9am – 5pm on Fridays. There is a dedicated phone number specific to crisis situations (1-800-742-1890).  Family Services Durham also offers counselling services at a nominal cost but, if finances are an issue, this will not be a barrier to service. Services are offered by phone or virtually. Contact 1-866-840-6697

2. Catholic Family Services

Catholic Family Services offers non-denominational counselling services, group wellness programs and kids/teens programs. Services are not crisis-based but are offered by phone or virtually. Please contact their central number in Oshawa 905-725-3513 or at 1-877-282-8932 should you wish to access their services.

3. CHIMO Youth Services

CHIMO offers a full range of family and children’s mental health services. Services are accessed via Central Intake at 1-888-454-6275.

Please know that we will continue to provide supports to students who may be struggling with recent events with the assistance of our staff from Psychological Services and Social Work.
